Speed for HYROX – Specialist Running Coaching for HYROX Athletes

Run faster between stations. Maintain technique under fatigue.

HYROX is a unique challenge: eight demanding stations broken up by eight 1km runs. Most athletes lose the bulk of their time not on the stations, but during the running that follows them. Heavy legs, collapsed posture, poor technique and poor transitions all add up to minutes lost on the course.

Speed for HYROX is The Running School’s specialist HYROX running programme, built to improve HYROX run performance when it matters most. Using biomechanical analysis and proven accelerated learning techniques, we teach you to run efficiently under fatigue, recover faster after every station, and maintain fast HYROX race pace running.

Description

The Complete HYROX Running Programme

Speed for HYROX is a specialist HYROX running training programme designed to help hybrid athletes run faster, more efficiently, and with stronger technique under fatigue. HYROX racing places unique demands on the body, with repeated 1km runs performed at high heart rate between demanding functional stations. This programme improves HYROX run performance, turning your running into a competitive advantage rather than a limiter.

Your programme begins with a full Biomechanical Running Analysis, tailored specifically to HYROX race preparation. Using video analysis, we assess your running posture, injury history, and overall running biomechanics for HYROX, identifying exactly where you’re losing time between stations or where you might be at risk of injury.

We also carry out a Functional Movement Analysis to identify any weaknesses affecting movement quality, strength, or mobility. This allows us to prescribe precise activation, mobility, and technique work to support efficient, resilient hybrid athlete running throughout training and competition.

Speed for HYROX is available in 8, 12, or 16 session packages, allowing the programme to be tailored to your race goals, experience level, and competition timeline.

What You’ll Improve in Speed for HYROX

HYROX running is different from marathon running or sprinting. It requires efficient, controlled movement under sustained fatigue, elevated heart rate, and muscular load. Speed for HYROX focuses on re-educating your running technique so you can perform when it matters most.

Through focused HYROX running technique coaching, you will learn how to:

  • Improve running efficiency and rhythm

  • Maintain technique when fatigued

  • Reduce impact forces and injury risk

  • Improve speed and control at race pace

  • Develop better running economy for HYROX

Running Under Fatigue Training

A key component of Speed for HYROX is learning how to run well when tired. Using safe, controlled fatigue drills and outdoor track work, we simulate the demands of HYROX running between stations and teach you how to maintain form when it matters most.

This running under fatigue training helps you learn how to:

  • Keep running economy high even when tired

  • Prevent form breakdown after burpees, lunges, or farmer’s carry

  • Control breathing under pressure

  • Maintain pace without “hanging on”

  • Build fatigue-resistant running for later race kilometres

This approach allows you to finish strong instead of fading in the second half of the race and improves confidence in your HYROX race pace running.

Personalised Strength & Technique Homework

Between sessions, you’ll receive personalised support to reinforce your progress, including:

  • Tailored muscle activation work

  • Running technique homework

  • Mobility and core exercises

All exercises are prescribed based on your biomechanical and movement analysis, ensuring maximum carryover to race day and long-term improvement in functional fitness running. On completion of the programme, you’ll receive a before & after running technique video, along with guidance on how to maintain your improvements for your next HYROX training block.
